My Kids

So, I think I've mentioned my youth groups (the young ones are the NIFRA, the older ones are the PRE-JUFRA) in a couple posts, but I finally had the chance to snap some shots of them the other day, now that my camera has been properly doctored. Many of the Pre-Jufra youth didn't show up (attendance is always a fluid and variable thing here), but I had a pretty sizeable group for the NIFRA. The boys all rolled in together, noisy and violent, chasing each other and shouting until we entered the classroom. There, miraculously, the majority sat down throughout the reading and discussion. I was quite impressed. One of my older students shyly presented me with a goodbye gift: a cute pair of heart-shaped purple earrings and two gaudy, glittery hairclips. Very generous on her part, since I know she doesn't have much money--I wonder if these were her things that she decided to give to me. The last picture is of the JUFRA, including some of the girls who were originally in the PRE-JUFRA group with me (a few of whom were also my English students). Leaving tomorrow for a tour of Beni and Sucre with my dad!! So very excited to get to know more of Bolivia and share it with someone I love very much. And, looking forward to returning to see all my kids once more before I leave.
